OBHBA Announces 2012 Board of Directors

Outer Banks Home Builders Association (OBHBA) recently announced their 2012 Board of Directors at the January general membership meeting. Chris Toolan of Resort Realty was among those named to serve the Association and the Outer Banks community this year.

The mission of OBHBA is: "to serve, promote, educate and advocate for members of the local building industry while supporting each other and the local community. With the provision of goods, services and monetary resources, OBHBA members continue to support local food pantries, college scholarships, urgent repair needs of individuals within the community and organized efforts for recovery and relief in the areas hardest hit by last year’s hurricane."

What 50 Years of Real Estate Experience Looks Like

Dick Harper started it, getting his broker’s license in 1979. The whole thing was accidental--a happy accident but not a planned lifestyle choice.

Finding a Sanctuary-- The Powers Team Story

The plan was simple--sell Linda’s stained glass business in Greensboro, move to the Outer Banks and retire. “We came the first time to the Outer Banks in ‘66 on our first anniversary,” Mike Powers recalls. “And we always knew we wanted to live here.”

A perfect plan, except neither Mike nor Linda are much for just sitting around. They sold the business in 1995, moved to the Outer Banks and by 1996 Linda had her Real Estate license. 1180594131Susan graduated from Langley High School in Mc Lean, Virginia and went on to study Fine Arts and English at Miami-Dade College in Miami, Florida. In the 1980’s she became interested in Real Estate, specializing in Resort Properties from Hatteras to Duck and then to the Tampa area where she specialized in Waterfront Homes for many years. Susan’s experience has given her the opportunity to understand the unique situations that arise when purchasing or selling in Coastal areas.  In her leisure time she enjoys fishing or walking with her husband and two labs on the beach.
